CHALLENGE: WMD Squared was asked to aid in development and drawing production of New Design for Duplessis Rifle components as well as updated print package to GD&T standards for manufacturability and fitment of all parts.
APPROACH: WMD Squared was suggested to Duplessis Rifles by a machine shop that was working closely with them to produce their high tolerance machined rifle parts. Duplessis needed a partner engineering and design firm to accurately produce drawings that were both manufacturable, but with tolerances that were not tighter than needed. The overall goal was to control the manufacturing and design process as well as produce accurate, high quality components at pricing that matched the market for the custom rifles.
IMPACT: Duplessis Rifles was able to accurately quote out the newly reworked approved prints. This also gave Duplessis Rifles the confidence in WMD Square’s modeling and drafting capabilities to start to develop new prototypes along-side with their gunsmith. They have since worked on developing their own magazine and bottom metal to enter a new aspect of the market. Currently their design has debuted at several major conventions such as the Shot Show 2019 in their new product showcase.
