CHALLENGE: WMD Squared was tasked by a major oilfield company with designing a test booth to be built and located on-site. The design criteria had to meet certain pressure requirements and be able to be disassembled and be moved to another location.
APPROACH: WMD Squared began by obtaining spec sheets on all parts for the project including the crane, the blast doors, concrete studs, door rollers, and end stops. Several designs were developed and then submitted to our customer where a few changes were decided on such as going readily available materials for energy absorption and cost compared to the original plan of using bullet resistant material. The material was thicker, and easy to add to the unit.
IMPACT: The fabricator was able to build their own test booth on site and had the capability of moving it to either another location in their facility or to an entirely different location in the event that they expand.
